Spiders in the heating ducts?
I recently bought a home, and before the winter I had my furnace inspected. The Heating and Cooling guy was impressed with our furnace. It's one of those really high efficiency energy star furnaces that cost a ton of money. He explained that most furnaces take the air in the basement and recycle the air, but our furnace pulls air from the outside, filters it and then pushes the air through the house. We recently turned our furnace off since the weather has been nice, and since that time I've noticed about 5 spiders coming through the exchange vent in the living room. What can I do to stop this from happening? John T-when you say "cycling the unit", what do you mean? Thanks Jack Bauer-you save the day once again. The company that cleans my chimney is an air duct cleaning company, maybe I should talk to them about doing that.

Is Global Warming the grand challenge of our century?
Stanford University?s Global Climate and Energy Project seeks new solutions to what they describe as one of the grand challenges of this century: supplying energy to meet the changing needs of a growing world population in a way that protects the environment. Among GCEP's specific goals: 1. Identify promising research opportunities for low-emissions, high-efficiency energy technologies. 2. Identify barriers to the large-scale application of these new technologies. 3. Conduct fundamental research into technologies that will help to overcome these barriers and provide the basis for large-scale applications. 4. Share research results with a wide audience, including the science and engineering community, media, business, governments, and potential end-users. The first link is a statement by Project Director Franklin Orr Jr. that is worthy of your time, I believe. http://gcep.stanford.edu/about/grandchallenge.html http://gcep.stanford.edu/about/index.html
