diy solar energy question?
hi on a recent trip to baja, mexico, i noticed lots places where there are no elec. service, but they do have electronics, selling stores witht their fridges and all even they have directv lol some very rural and poor but beautiful places and scenery, we enjoyed so much i noticed in all of the roofs (90% + ) little solar panels no bigger than 2' x 4' , except bigger houses. i came into a little water store and asked the seller how he had the light, he told me just conected direct to a 12v battery and he have light for about 12 hours every day, it gets chargd during the day...i asked him if he had a relay, he said no, just like that i noticed 3 80w fluo fixtures for a total of 240 watts? is that possible? how does a little solar panel gives the battery energy for more than 3 hours? i had charged a battery with a jumper and then hooked the tv (150 W) with an inverter and last no more than 2 hrs thnx in advance sorry for spelling
